Fat Desctruction Injections

Lipolysis Or Liposuction

What’s the difference?

Liposuction to remove unwanted fat was first developed by Charles Dujarier in the 1920s.  It is now one of the most common aesthetic surgical procedures in the United States.  The downside is that liposuction often requires general anesthesia, is extremely costly and has the potential for serious complications.  These are a few the reasons why less invasive, nonsurgical alternatives to reduce localized fat deposits have gained interest.

Lipolysis, or subcutaneous injection of phosphatidylcholine (PC) solubilized in deoxycholate (DC), has been reported to eliminate body fat.  Lipolysis injections have been branded under various names and have become increasingly popular in recent years.

Lipolysis Injections

A non-invasive alternative.

The ideal candidate for injection lipolysis is someone who wants small areas of excess fat or localized deposits removed.  Injection lipolysis is a tool best used for individuals who opt to have less invasive procedures and wish to avoid anesthesia.  It is important to understand that it may take several months to achieve the desired results.

FAQ & Common Treatments

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) solubilized in deoxycholate (DC) is injected into the fat below the chin.  It causes the destruction of fat cells.  Once destroyed, those cells can no longer store fat.  Once the desired aesthetic response is achieved the need for retreatment is not expected.

For most patients, downtime is minimal and typically occurs after the first treatment session.

The majority of clients will have visible results in two to four treatments.  While a patient can receive a maximum of six treatments, some clients experience wonderful results after only two treatments.

Injection lipolysis contours and improves the appearance of fat below the chin, submental fullness, also known as a “double chin.”  Gone are the days when liposuction or surgery were the only options to get rid of double chins.

Injection lipolysis involves a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

Injection lipolysis is suggested for anyone between the ages of 18 and 65 who are bothered by fullness under their chin.

Yes, the effects are permanent.  When injected, phosphatidylcholine (PC) solubilized in deoxycholate (DC) causes the destruction of fat cells;  once destroyed, those cells can no longer store fat.  After the treatments, maintenance or additional injections are not needed.  The results are permanent.

Injection lipolysis is typically done in a 15 to 20 minute in-office treatment session.  A series of injections are administered into the area under your chin during each treatment session.

Dr.  Mazzuca will administer the treatment in and around every four weeks.  The more prominent the double chin, the more treatments may be necessary.  The total amount of treatments needed is definitely an individualized process that the doctor and patient will discuss.

Dr.  Mazzuca will customize your treatment based on your treatment goals.  Together, you will decide the treatment plan that is best for you.  Many patients experience visible improvement of their chin profile in 2 to 4 treatments.  Occasionally, up to 6 treatments are required in order to achieve desired results.

As with any other injectable treatments, you may experience some side effects with Injection lipolysis.  The most common side effects we see are swelling, bruising, pain and numbness.  Most side effects are mild to moderate and decrease with subsequent treatments.

Lymphatic massage will optimize your results by increasing the efficiency of lymphatic drainage, allowing the fat cells to be eliminated through the lymphatic system.
